By the way, Anthony here is a lead for you. I do not know
what kind Melquiades you build and how you
changed specification for your amp but if you have the one identical to mine
then you had a provision for injection channels which is full range M...

[quote
user="anthony"]Looks like the Red 10's are circa 92dB/w/m as an
entire "speaker" including woofer. I've never played with them
before, but I wonder how much, if any, SPL is scrubbed from the tweeter by the
crossover so that it matches the...

Bill, It is fun is that you mention low frequency ham. As I shut down system last night I was quite disturbed from this because nothing was running. It's turned out that a big ceiling fan above listening chair was destroyed by my kids, prob...

[quote
user="anthony"]Turns out the Red 10" pair I purchased from
fleabay years ago that were sold as "original" but in fact were
re-coned (and not with Tannoy cones) are actually useful now. Got a
partial refund for that dodgy transaction and e...

[quote
user="ArmAlex"] Hi Romy, In this picture it looks that attic
opening's distance to listening position is very close to distance of chair to
the main speakers. Time alignment?
ArmAlex, very good question.
The position of the exit of ...

Anthony, it is a bit complicated subject. If you ever visit me and look at my attic you will be literally laughing. It is always initially designed with an idea to load there all possible outer installations. Pretend a good size listening r...

Got the right channel open baffle installed. It's certainly
not finished cosmetically but it is fully functional. There is nothing measured
or calibrated But I spent quite a few hours listening last night. It is very
very very interesting result. ...

[quote user="Paul

From the point of view of a methodological purity indeed the location of a vacuum
tube amplifier atop of midbass section does not make any sense. B...

tarted to mount the open baffle for ULF channels at my
attic. The system is fully operational,
not time aligned yet to the degree that I would like it to be but I'm going to
tell you: that Tannoy Red 10 is something that makes everything so sweet...

It is a very interesting subject, Paul. If we presume that an acoustic system has an objective the most “interestingly”
reproduce Bruckner, then what the acoustic system he should do? Pay attention I
did not say more “accurate” or more “faithfully”...

Wow, where did you see a 1kW
amplifier that is able to produce bass that does not make you vomit? Also, why
would you need power like this. If you go with 15” high sensitivity driver,
then you would need 20-30W max. Do not forget that your objecti...

Anthony As you can see in the picture it is one Vitavox 15" per
side and the box is about 2 feet deep, so it good volume. I drive it from low
frequency Milq channel that has a line-level 63 Hertz filter. Subjectively I
feel that I would like to ro...

Found a way to center Red drive in the frame and
to align the axis of the red driver with midrange S2 driver. It is not so simple
as it might appear.
2)
Spend a week or two to listen the new room and learning
what this new room d...

I setup on Macondo/Milq back
by the calibration sheet and tine up all channels. The system up and running with
perfectly trained obedient sound. I like it. There is no tweeter and no ULF The
midbass is running with first order filter at 78Hz, in t...

Actually, I used laser BMS
multiple times, and I found it completely useless. Yes, I perfectly can set up
my horns with laser us and down or left and right, but I found that and my new
difference, if one of the corns will be even inch higher or lo...
|
At the bottom of your RAAL you have Vitavox S2 driver with
no lowpass filter, right? Do you have an alternator between Milq and S2? If you
do, then the alternator has some inductance and acts and a very mild filter. Anyhow.
I disagree with RAAL an...

Might I ask you what tweeter you use withy your Macondo and how you dive it? ...

Anthony,
I feel that 18AWG is a bit too
weak for the filaments. I usually use 12. I do not know if you allow to have
any ventilation around the 6C33C, I did. In my full range amp, I had holes around
the 6C33 panel.

I cannot imagine that I started to work on Macondo over 20 years ago. How are all this time the Macondo axioms coupled with Milq DSET proved to be quite accurate and constantly delivered quite good predictable results. Yes, it is a pain in ...

Paul, what I am saying has nothing
to do with your Troels project but rather a psychological exercise to understand
what truly is going on. Also, I very much not knocking at your door with my
mental approach to audio objective am trying to demonst...

Paul, congratulations on your
finished project. I do not have a lot of experience with central channel, I wonder
how you route signal to it in context of stereo recordings. If you use DSP then
I presume that it is more deterministic to the fin...

Macondo, because it is prodigiously time aligned has very nerow and well defined listening sweet spot. The only same identical listening spot I heard only from one another loud speaker, it was Wilson Alexandria which was very accurately time alig...
Macondo is no magic bullet. Sure, Macondo/DSET is put together in a way that it's components need for optimal operation, and when "used as directed" the performance is phenomonal, but it is still prone to room integr...

It looks like Germans have a new audio show, I did not even
know that they are still going on. That very first lady guy found was
surprisingly pleasant, even though I did not finish to watch it. The guy let
manufacturers talk and explain what they...

Noviygera, this whole
subject in my view is too complex for a public forum. First of all, and it is
extremely important: there is nothing mediocre in terms of listening experience
that a person can get from $100 amplifier. It might be your Furman ...

Yes. They were tumultuous the last few months, I am sure I
will cover it sooner or later. For now, the site is back, I am back and, in a
few days, I will have my static IP and the site will be stable. None of the site context is lost, I just d...

The GoodSoundClub will be down most likely for 1-2 hours on March 10 or 11. I will be moving the servers to the new location.
